Hindalco's Research, Development, and Technology team drives greener and sustainable processes, transforming capabilities in resource securitisation, energy and water conservation, cost optimisation, and waste upcycling. In FY24-25, we developed 53 new products and were granted 560+ patents.
In India, Hindalco’s aluminium solutions significantly support the nation's green mobility and decarbonisation efforts. Key innovations include India's first aluminium trailer, bulker, electric bus, all-aluminium railway freight rake, vaccine vial caps, EV battery enclosures, and last-mile transport solutions.

Hindalco sustainability actions are centered around carbon neutrality, zero waste to landfill, no net loss to biodiversity, water positivity, and health and safety. As a result, Hindalco has consistently been ranked at the top for ESG scores in the global aluminium sector in the S&P Dow Jones Indices since 2020.
Hindalco launched and implemented an industry-first Sustainable Mining Charter to guide sustainable practices throughout the mining process.
One of our industry-leading initiatives has been to promote circular economy and achieve 100% upcycling of red mud at three of our alumina refineries. In line with our goal of enabling circularity, our Copper business is setting up India’s first e-waste recycling facility in Gujarat.
